At just 5-foot-9, what Isaiah Thomas may lack in height, he makes up for in confidence. In fact, the Celtics' point guard is so confident that he not only suggests the Celtics will be one of the best teams in the league next season but he is also quite certain that he's among the best point guards in the NBA.

"All I'm going to say is men lie, women lie, numbers don't." Thomas told Celtics.com's Amanda Pflugrad when asked about his rank among other guards. "My numbers stack up against all those other guys, those other top superstar guys, I guess you'd say. At the end of the day, I'm just going to continue to work and continue to show that I'm just as good as any other point guard in the NBA."

While all players believe in their own abilities, Thomas isn't that wrong with his boasting. He was a first-time All-Star last season for a reason and was instrumental in Boston making the postseason for the second straight year. Since joining the Celtics, Thomas has quickly emerged as Boston's main star and has become its go-to player. Plus, like he says, from a numbers standpoint, Thomas is among other elite point guards in the league.

Playing in all 82 regular-season games, Thomas averaged 22.2 points, 6.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 32.2 minutes a game. He is an efficient shooter as well, shooting 42.8 percent and 35.9 percent from three. Those are excellent all-around numbers. In fact, Thomas' numbers are quite similar to Kyrie Irving's, who shot 44.8 percent and 32.1 percent and averaged 19.6 points, 4.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.5 minutes a game. Wizards guard John Wall, another Eastern Conference All-Star, is also slightly similar with averages of 19.9 points, 10.2 assists and 1.9 steals.

He's no MVP guard like Stephen Curry but Thomas does have a point as his numbers are up there with other star point guards. Of course though, numbers aren't everything. Thomas' defense is still not up to par with other elite point guards like Chris Paul, Kyle Lowry or Wall. And since he was Boston's go-to scorer, his numbers are up there because of that, while Irving plays with LeBron James and Wall has Bradley Beal.

However, where he hypothetically ranks doesn't truly matter as Thomas is clearly one of the best point guards in the league and is a big reason why the Celtics are favored to challenge the defending champion Cavaliers in the East.
