Against the Miami Heat on Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers may have tried to beat the shot clock in the worst way possible.

With the shot clock winding down in the second quarter, Nick Young passed the ball to Marcelo Huertas who was guarded by Tyler Johnson. Unable to drive on Johnson, Huertas tried to shoot a one-legged jumper but the Heat guard blocked it rather easily. Huertas still had control of the ball though, so trying to beat the shot clock, he fired a backwards shot at the rim.

Unfortunately for Huertas, the shot failed to get anywhere near the rim, instead being caught in the air by Hassan Whiteside.

The Lakers are clearly not bringing back the Showtime era of basketball anytime soon.
