People from Boston, well, they talk a little...different. I guess every region has their own accent really, but Boston's is certainly one of the most distinct. And if you're not used to it, it can be one of the toughest to understand. Marcus Smart, er, Mahcus Smaht, learned that the hard way during his rookie season.

Thursday, Smart dropped an article in The Player' Tribune about the Celtics, and told a number of stories from his first few years in the league. The most humorous one, was about a confusing exchange he had with a woman in Cambridge after he misunderstood what she was saying due to her accent. Via The Players' Tribune:

One day, at an AT&T store in Cambridge, I spent 10 confusing minutes (literally 10) talking to a nice old lady about "the harbor" ... before I realized that she was talking about "Harvard." We had just had a completely different conversation for 10 minutes. When I figured it out, I apologized about mishearing her Boston accent, and she gave me a look, like, O.K., buddy.

Welp. It happens to the best of them.

The good news for Celtics fans is that Smart is now a lot more comfortable -- both with the accent, and on the court -- than he was early in his rookie year.
