Through 3 Quarters

It's been a high-scoring affair so far as the Houston Rockets and the Charlotte Hornets have combined for 211 points three quarters in. Three quarters in and Houston's offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating Charlotte 112-99.

The Rockets have been riding high on the performance of power forward Christian Wood, who has posted a double-double on 23 points and 15 boards. The Hornets have enjoyed the tag-team combination of shooting guard Terry Rozier and point guard LaMelo Ball. The former has shot 5-for-9 from downtown and has recorded 22 points, while the latter has almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, ten dimes, and nine rebounds.

Despite being behind, this is tied with the most points Charlotte has had yet this year going into the fourth quarter.

Current Records: Charlotte 13-8; Houston 2-16

What to Know

The Houston Rockets haven't won a game against the Charlotte Hornets since Feb. 4 of last year, but they'll be looking to end the drought this past Saturday. Houston will take on Charlotte at 8 p.m. ET at Toyota Center after having had a few days off. These two teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.

The Rockets have more to be thankful for after their matchup against the Chicago Bulls this past Wednesday. Houston managed a 118-113 win over Chicago. Houston's small forward Danuel House Jr. filled up the stat sheet, picking up 18 points. House Jr. had some trouble finding his footing against the Boston Celtics last week, so this was a step in the right direction. House Jr.'s points were the most he has had all season.

A well-balanced attack led the Hornets over the Minnesota Timberwolves every single quarter on their way to victory this past Friday. Charlotte captured a comfortable 133-115 victory. Charlotte's shooting guard Kelly Oubre Jr. was one of the most active players for the squad, shooting 7-for-13 from beyond the arc and finishing with 27 points.

The Rockets are expected to lose this next one by 5.5. Their home court has been no bettor's paradise, as they've failed to beat the spread in five of their seven home games.

The wins brought Houston up to 2-16 and the Hornets to 13-8. A pair of offensive stats to keep an eye on: Houston is stumbling into the contest with the fourth fewest points per game in the league, having accrued only 101.2 on average. Charlotte's offense has more to brag about, as they they rank second in the league when it comes to points per game, with 112.9 on average. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
