The Cleveland Browns are still out there looking for a quarterback. The two biggest-name options are Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III and with the NFL owners' meetings beginning in Boca Raton, Florida this week, we learned how the Browns feel about them.

For one, the rumors about Kap are apparently just that: rumors. Browns VP Sashi Brown told Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland he believes the rumors about a Browns trade with the 49ers for Kap was "way over-reported."

Sources can confirm this report.

Kap's a huge name and procuring him from Chip Kelly and the 49ers would be a massive trade. It generates headlines and it gives Browns fans hope, given that Hue Jackson is the type of guy capable of getting the most out of his talent.

In other news, the Browns don't sound entirely thrilled about the potential for another big-name quarterback, Robert Griffin III.

Cleveland certainly seems interested in landing RG3 via free agency. (USATSI)

Speaking to the NFL Network on Monday, Jackson said the team is "going through the process" with Griffin after bringing him in for a meeting last week and making calls to gather info about him.

"We’re going to go through the process with him. I think he’s very talented. It was a great meeting," Jackson said. "I think he’s obviously a tremendous talent and a great young man. He had a lot of success early in Washington and then things didn’t work out. Those things happen in the National Football League.

"But at the same time we are going through our process. We are going to be very diligent in what we’re doing, trying to put the right quarterbacks on our football team and in that quarterback room. That’s one of my biggest responsibilities and one of our organization’s biggest responsibilities."

Read: he's a backup if he comes and we're going to take our time to figure out who our starter is. At least that's the message we get from what he's saying.

Griffin is a very talented athlete but he hasn't shown football acumen since his rookie season. If he was capable of being an NFL starter right now, someone (the Jets, the Redskins) wouldn't let him stick around on the market.

Instead, he's a big-name backup with some potential. You don't want to draft a quarterback No. 2 overall and have him deal with Griffin breathing down his neck or trying to steal his gig. Similar issues apply with Kaepernick.

According to Ian Rapoport on NFL Network, RG3 and Kap are "mutually exclusive," meaning the Browns will not add both players to the roster.

This makes sense because Jackson and the Browns brass are not building a fantasy football roster from 2012. There's egos to balance and fans to soothe and developing to do.

The good news for the Browns is this regime is showing patience. There is no easy answer out there for quarterbacks right now. Being prudent with a full-blown rebuild is the only way to go.
