The last time Ken Whisenhunt saw success in the NFL, he was stationed in San Diego as the Chargers' offensive coordinator in 2013. The job he did there in just one season was good enough to land him the Titans' head-coaching gig, which ended a couple months back. Now, Whisenhunt is reportedly set to return to the Chargers and rejoin Philip Rivers.

As first reported by the The San Diego Union-Tribune's Michael Gehlken, the Chargers are bringing back Whisenhunt to fill their vacancy at offensive coordinator. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later reported the same news.

Whisenhunt will replace Frank Reich, who took over as offensive coordinator after Whisenhunt left for Tennessee. Reich's offense stumbled this past season, finishing ninth in yards but 26th in scoring. The Chargers went 4-12 and cut ties with Reich just over a week ago.

Judging by Whisenhunt's previous stint with the team, the offense will be in good hands moving forward. In 2013, the Chargers finished fifth in yards and 12th in points. More importantly, the team successfully ran the ball, with Ryan Mathews' 1,255 yards leading the way. Considering the Chargers spent their 2015 first-round pick on Melvin Gordon and proceeded to watch him toil for 641 yards, getting the running game going figures to be a top priority.

Whisenhunt might've stumbled as the Titans' head coach, compiling a 3-20 record, but he should settle in nicely in a familiar role. Now, only one question remains: Will he be coaching in San Diego or Los Angeles?
