After 15-years in the NFL, Champ Bailey's career could finally be over. The 36-year-old was cut by the Saints on Saturday, the move comes just five months after Bailey was released by the Broncos in March.
After being cut by Denver, the 36-year-old headed to New Orleans where he signed a two-year, $7 million deal with the Saints.
You knew Bailey's status with the team was in doubt when he played in the Saints' fourth preseason game, which is usually a time you would want to rest a 36-year-old defensive back. The only reason Bailey was on the field in the 22-13 loss to Baltimore is because the team had to decide if he was worth a roster spot.
The 12-time Pro Bowler was also banged up most of camp, so it wasn't a complete surprise that he got cut.
The seventh overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft, Bailey is on the ugly side of 30 -- at least in NFL terms -- and it won't be shocking if the veteran has played his last down.
Champ Bailey let go by the Saints. Have to wonder if this is the end of the line for the potential Hall of Famer
