It doesn't take much to get Tom Brady going. The former 199th overall pick has had a chip on his shoulder throughout his NFL career even as he's ascended into being the greatest player to ever step on a football field. Despite all those accolades -- including a record seven Super Bowl titles -- Brady continues to find ways to motivate himself as an underdog. The latest revelation of that came during an episode of HBO's The Shop: Uninterrupted that was released earlier this offseason and featured the Bucs quarterback.

In it, Brady revealed that one team decided to pull out of the running for his services when he was a free agent back in the spring of 2020. The club allegedly told Brady that they were going to stick with what they had in-house rather than bring him aboard. To that, Brady said on The Shop: "One of the teams, they weren't interested at the very end. I was thinking, you're sticking with that [expletive]?"

Naturally, this sent folks into a frenzy trying to identify which team decided to pass on Brady and who the "expletive" quarterback he was referring to was. While that team/quarterback is still unknown, Brady was asked about his comment during an interview with Jim Gray on SiriusXM.

"There's private things for me that are going to remain motivational for me," Brady told Gray, via the Boston Herald. "They know who they are ... it's fine. Everyone has a choice to choose. I think what you realize is, there's not as many smart people as you think. That's just the reality. I think it'd be a no-brainer if you said, 'Hey, you've got a chance to get Wayne Gretzky on your team, or you got a chance to have Michael Jordan on your team.' ... 'Oh, we don't need him, no thanks. We're good.'

"In my mind, I'm kind of thinking, 'OK, let me go show those teams what they're missing.' At the same time, let me go prove to the team that did bet on me, and the team that really showed they really wanted me, and committed to me, that I'm not going to let them down."

Well, Brady did just that as his first season in Tampa went off splendidly. He not only put up some of the more impressive passing statistics of his career, but he also led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl LV title right out of the shoot. That's quite the way to prove Tampa Bay right and have everyone else that was in the running kicking themselves for not closing the deal.
