Morning Buzz

•  Could Brendan Shanahan have a hit to review on his desk first thing Monday morning? You be the judge. It sure looks to me like Aaron Volpatti jumped into that hit on the boards and we know how Shanny feels about charging.

•  The Flyers are like the Oakland Raiders in some ways, you know they will just about always lead the league in penalties. They're already first in that category this season (or last, depending on your view point) with 124 PIM. Here's a breakdown by Frank Seravalli of all their infractions to date. Yeesh. •  Early in the weekend, it looked like veteran free agent Jason Arnott had a deal in the works that would make him a member of the New York Rangers. By the end of the weekend, the deal was off as Arnott was not cleared by the team doctors after his physical. (ESPN New York)

•  Jamie Benn has his new deal signed now, so he should be on the ice in the Stars' next game, right? Well, maybe. He has to wait to be granted a work visa until he can be put on the team roster and that has to happen by 5 p.m. Monday. But at this point, what's one game more? (Dallas Morning News)

•  Hey, so what's going on with that Phoenix Coyotes sale? That's what's the City of Glendale wants to know. Greg Jamison has until Thursday to get the deal done or the agreement expires and it's highly doubtful the new city administration will give Jamison anywhere near as good of a lease proposal. •  It's that time for teams to decide on rookies and whether they will return to juniors or not. Two teams have already elected to return their young stars as the Wild sent back Matt Dumba and Flyers did the same with Scott Laughton. (Pro Hockty Talk)
