Former Pacific assistant Joe Ford has resigned from Don Verlin's staff at Idaho, a school official told CBS Sports on Friday. This development comes two weeks after Pacific officials confirmed a CBS Sports report that an independent investigator had been hired to look into claims that Ford had acted inappropriately while on Ron Verlin's staff at Pacific.
Don Verlin and Ron Verlin are brothers.
Ford had joined Idaho's coaching staff in June.
He has not responded to an interview request from CBS Sports.
CBS Sports last month obtained an anonymous letter -- which Pacific confirmed was also sent to its school -- that alleges Ford had a questionable relationship with a female student-athlete while working at Pacific. In the context of that relationship, the letter alleges Ford acted inappropriately -- even threatening to have the female's scholarship removed if she rejected his advances. Upon receiving the letter, Pacific hired an outside investigator.
The status of that investigation is unclear.
An attempt to reach a Pacific official for comment Friday was unsuccessful.
