What to Know

The Alcorn State Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Southern Illinois Salukis at 8 p.m. ET on Friday at Banterra Center. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W.'

Alcorn State has to be hurting after a devastating 84-57 defeat at the hands of the Gonzaga Bulldogs last Monday. The top scorer for the Braves was guard Keondre Montgomery (13 points).

As for SIU, it looks like they got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They lost 66-64 to the Creighton Bluejays on Monday on a last-minute half-court bomb from Creighton's guard Ryan Nembhard with 0:01 remaining. Forward Marcus Domask (14 points) and guard Lance Jones (14 points) were the top scorers for SIU.

Alcorn State is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread, however, as they are currently on a four-game streak of ATS wins.

The losses put the Braves at 0-4 and the Salukis at 2-3. A couple offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Alcorn State has only been able to knock down 38.60% percent of their shots, which is the 23rd lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. SIU has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 39th worst in college basketball in points per game, with only 63.4 on average. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
