Who's Playing

Iowa State @ No. 25 Xavier

Current Records: Iowa State 4-0; Xavier 4-0

What to Know

The #25 Xavier Musketeers will take on the Iowa State Cyclones at 7 p.m. ET Wednesday at Barclays Center. After these two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one of them is set up to suffer a discouraging change of fortune.

Xavier was fully in charge on Sunday, breezing past the Norfolk State Spartans 88-48 at home. Guard Adam Kunkel was the offensive standout of the game for the Musketeers, shooting 8-for-10 from downtown and finishing with 26 points.

Meanwhile, Iowa State entered their matchup on Sunday as the heavy favorite, and they fully lived up to expectations. They steamrolled past the Grambling Tigers 82-47 at home. Five players on Iowa State scored in the double digits: forward Aljaz Kunc (21), guard Tristan Enaruna (15), guard Tre Jackson (12), guard Tyrese Hunter (12), and guard Caleb Grill (10). Jackson hadn't helped his team much against the Alabama State Hornets last week, so this was a nice turnaround for him. Tre Jackson's points were the most he has had all year.

The wins brought both teams up to an identical 4-0. A couple defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Xavier have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 34.30%, which places them 14th in college basketball. As for Iowa State, they rank 31st in college basketball when it comes to points allowed per game, with only 57.5 on average.
