No. 8 Kansas @ St. John's
Current Records: Kansas 5-1; St. John's 5-1
What to Know
The #8 Kansas Jayhawks will square off against the St. John's Red Storm at 7 p.m. ET Friday at UBS Arena. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous games.
Kansas didn't have too much trouble with the Iona Gaels on Sunday as they won 96-83. Guard Christian Braun and guard Ochai Agbaji were among the main playmakers for the Jayhawks as the former had 18 points along with seven boards and the latter had 17 points in addition to five rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. John's beat the New Jersey Tech Highlanders 77-68 on Saturday. The Red Storm got double-digit scores from four players: guard Posh Alexander (16), center Joel Soriano (16), guard Julian Champagnie (14), and guard Montez Mathis (10). This also makes it three games in a row in which Julian Champagnie has had at least three steals.
Kansas is the favorite in this one, with an expected 6.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 2-4 against the spread when favored.
The wins brought both teams up to an identical 5-1. Kansas and St. John's are both 3-1 after wins this season, but that symmetry won't hold for long.
