NCAA football scores, live updates and highlights from the full slate of Week 10 action on Saturday

The College Football Playoff race always starts to heat up in November, and Week 10 of the 2023 college football season provided some clarity on who will make the cut. Nos. 1-8 in the rankings all prevailed, though No. 5 Washington could bypass No. 4 Florida State after the Huskies won a 52-42 shootout at No. 20 USC. No. 9 Oklahoma was the only top 10 team to lose Saturday, suffering a 27-24 defeat at No. 22 Oklahoma State in the last scheduled Bedlam rivalry game. It marked the Sooners' second-consecutive defeat after a 7-0 start, effectively knocking them out of the CFP discussion. No. 7 Texas and No. 10 Ole Miss both had close calls at home against No. 23 Kansas State and Texas A&M respectively, but both escaped with three-point wins to improve to 8-1 and remain in the CFP hunt.

Winners/Losers in Week 10

Quarterbacks took center stage in Week 10 as the best and brightest in the sport battled with conference championship dreams on the line. Maligned Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe stood as the brightest of the bunch, while USC's Caleb Williams fell short. Washington's Michael Penix Jr. needed a little help, while LSU's Jayden Daniels couldn't get any of his own. 

Now, the College Football Playoff race is starting to come into focus. Only 10 Power Five teams remain with one or fewer loss after No. 9 Oklahoma fell in a devastating rivalry game. Five others struggled, ending up in tight fourth-quarter battles with six teams in the initial College Football Playoff Rankings dropping overall. The second set of College Football Playoff Rankings this Tuesday should look a lot different.

AP Top 25 projection

As the clocks get turned back, our focus turns to the final stretch of the college football season. Alabama takes control of the SEC West

Final: LSU 42, Alabama 28

Alabama needs to beat either Kentucky or Auburn in order to claim the SEC West title after a thrilling 42-28 win over LSU on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Quarterback Jalen Milroe had four rushing touchdowns -- the most an Alabama quarterback has scored in a single game -- in the win. The first-year starter had 155 rushing yards and 219 passing yards in what was the best game of his career.

Michigan crusies, remains undefeated 

Final: No. 3 Michigan 41, Purdue 13

Amid the buzz of the NCAA's investigation into alleged illegal sign-stealing, Michigan cruises to a 28-point victory against Purdue in a rematch of last season's Big Ten Championship Game. It was a milestone night for Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who eclipsed seven-time Super Bowl champion and former Wolverine Tom Brady in all-time passing yards within the program. McCarthy ended the victory passing for 335 yards on the night, though it was running back Blake Corum who lit up the scoreboard with a trio of rushing touchdowns. Michigan is now 9-0 as it prepares to go on the road to No. 11 Penn State next Saturday.

New Mexico has jokes

Michigan staffer Connor Stallions resigned on Friday for his part in the Wolverines' sign-stealing operation. New Mexico welcomed Stalions to its game vs. UNLV on Saturday night.

Jayden Daniels injured

The star LSU quarterback was taken out of the game after this vicious hit by Alabama EDGE Dallas Turner. Daniels went out for one play and came back in. However, he left the game yet again and spent several minutes in the injury tent. Jenny Dell of CBS Sports reported that he is out for the game after what they are calling "concussion symptoms."

Jalen Milroe with a record

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe scored his fourth touchdown of the game late in the third quarter to give Alabama a 35-28 lead, setting a school record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. 

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels threw an interception on the ensuing drive, and Jase McClellan scored from 10 yards out to give the Tide a 42-28 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Black Corum with a trio of TDs

Early 4Q: No. 3 Michigan 34, Purdue 6

Michigan is starting to pull away in Ann Arbor as Corum finds the end zone for the third time tonight. It matches a single-game season high for Corum -- he also had three scores against UNLV -- and brings his total to 16 rushing touchdowns on the season. Corum has excelled in short-yardage situations all year for the Wolverines as he looks to complete unfinished business after suffering a knee injury late last season. Michigan will be counting on him to play a big role down the stretch with games against Penn State and Ohio State still looming.

That's four touchdowns for Jalen Milroe

Third Quarter: Alabama 35, LSU 28

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe just won't stop. The first-year starter scored his fourth rushing touchdown late in the third quarter to give the Crimson Tide the lead. The four touchdowns are a career high in what has been a banner night for the Katy, Texas, native. Milroe has 142 rushing yards on 17 carries against the LSU defense. His most recent touchdown was huge because it came after the Tide defense held the Tigers to a punt -- the first for either team in the second half.

USC runs trick play to perfection 

USC coach Lincoln Riley is in his bag right now. The Trojans ran a sweep to WR Zachariah Branch and it looked like he was going to be brought down for a loss before he tossed it back to Caleb Williams, who found a wide open Tahj Washington for a touchdown. This game has lived up to the hype thus far.

Michigan leads Purdue, but left wanting more

Halftime: No. 3 Michigan 20, Purdue 6 

The Wolverines head to the locker room up two scores on the Boilermakers, but that likely doesn't leave them feeling satisfied. Michigan scored on four of its first five drives to build a 20-0 lead before Purdue managed for a pair of field goals late in the half to cut the deficit to 14. The latter of those came after Michigan turned the ball over on downs with 1:35 left in the second quarter. Wolverines quarterback J.J McCarthy passed for 201 yards in the first half, but it was running back Blake Corum who found the end zone twice, registering a pair of short-yardage touchdown runs.

Quarterbacks doing work in Tuscaloosa

HALF: Alabama 21, LSU 21

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe cruised into the end zone with just over a minute to play in the half to give Alabama a 21-7 lead in what has become a theme for him in this one. It was Milroe's third rushing touchdown of the half, as he has 82 yards in what has been one of his most impressive performances of the year. His counterpart, LSU's Jayden Daniels, has being doing work on the ground himself. The fifth-year senior signal-caller for the Tigers has one rushing touchdown himself, and has racked up 137 yards on the ground. He also has two touchdown passes on the night -- including a 26-yarder to Kyren Lacy with five seconds left in the half that brought the Tigers even with the Tide as the two teams entered the locker rooms.

This one has been wild in Tuscaloosa, and the second half looks like it is shaping up to be even better.

Jalen Milroe is dominating

The dual-threat quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide has been the subject of plenty of criticism throughout the season after struggling in the passing game early on, but it hasn't mattered so far in the Tide's game vs. LSU. Milroe has two rushing touchdowns and leads all rushers with 35 yards, leading his team to a 14-7 lead over the Tigers late in the first quarter in Tuscaloosa. Oh, and he's doing just fine through the air as well. He's 6 of 9 for 86 yards in what has been a stellar performance for the entire Tide offense.

LSU's Daniels with an opportunity... 

Who will be taking home the Heisman Trophy next month as college football's most valuable player? Don't dismiss LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels from that race, which feels relatively wide open compared to where things stood not long ago. Daniels has played a huge role in the Tigers ranking No. 1 nationally in scoring offense (47.4 points per game), No. 1 in total offense (552.9 yards per game) and No. 3 in passing offense (339.9 yards per game) at the FBS level. If Daniels is able to guide LSU to consecutive wins against Alabama -- something the Tigers have not done since 2010-11 -- it will certainly take his Heisman campaign up a level entering the stretch run of 2023.

Florida State pulls away at Pitt 

FINAL: Florida State 24, Pitt 7 

Style points aren't going to be found here for Florida State in a road spot at Pitt where a win by any margin should suffice. The Seminoles offense was down its top two wide receivers (Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson), but after a slow start it was able to pull away from a Pitt team that did hold a 7-0 lead at one point in the second quarter. Junior wide receiver Ja'Khi Douglas stepped up with a heavier work load, pulling in six catches for 115 yards with five of those receptions resulting in first downs. Jordan Travis finished with 360 yards passing and two touchdowns (one passing, one rushing), which won't hurt his case when it comes to end-of-year individual accolades. 

With the win the Seminoles did clinch a spot in the ACC Championship Game, but the fact that Florida State finished with more than 500 yards of total offense but only 24 points to show for it indicates the room for improvement for this national title contender.

Cowboys upset Sooners in final Bedlam 

FINAL: No. 22 Oklahoma State 27, No. 9 Oklahoma 24

It's anybody's guess as to when Oklahoma State and Oklahoma meet again, but the Cowboys will savor this one for a long time as they hang on for the three-point victory over their bitter in-state foe. With the Bedlam finale triumph in hand, Oklahoma State now has the inside track over Oklahoma to the Big 12 Championship Game. The result also effectively ends any College Football Playoff hopes for the Sooners, who lose for a second straight week after starting the year 7-0. Cowboys running back Ollie Gordon flourished again, rushing for two touchdowns toppling the 100-yard mark in rushing yards for a sixth consecutive game. All said, the Pokes continue a stunning turnaround from a rocky start to 2023.

Michigan's dilemma 

There's more focus on what is happening off the field than on the field for Michigan as the Wolverines look to stay perfect at home against Purdue. The NCAA's investigation into alleged illegal sign-stealing by Michigan is ongoing, and Boilermakers coach Ryan Walters fanned the flames with his comments on the matter during his midweek radio show. So will Purdue have an extra chip on its shoulder entering the Big House? And will the Wolverines be able to put aside any distractions? We'll find out soon enough in this rematch of last year's Big Ten Championship Game.

Georgia stays undefeated 

FINAL: No. 2 Georgia 30, No. 12 Missouri 21

It didn't come easy, but the Bulldogs fend off a pesky Mizzou team and are now a step closer to exiting the regular season undefeated for a third straight season. An fourth quarter interception by Georgia defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse proved pivotal in stifling any late-game momentum for the Tigers, who trailed by only a field goal before committing the fatal turnover. Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck ended the day 21 of 32 passing for 254 yards and two touchdowns, and Georgia running back Kendall Milton contributed with a rushing touchdown in the victory.

Washington heads to Los Angeles 

To say the least, the No. 5 Huskies have not inspired since the high of beating No. 6 Oregon three weeks ago. They avoided a near-disaster at home against Arizona State in Week 8 before posting a victory at Stanford in Week 9 that was also anything but comfortable. No. 20 USC makes for a far more formidable opponent than the Sun Devils and Cardinal, but the Trojans' defensive struggles have been well documented. Just last week, the Trojans snapped a two-game skid by prevailing in a 50-49 shootout at Cal. Expect Huskies quarterback Michael Penix to air it out Saturday night at the Coliseum in a game where both Penix and USC quarterback Caleb Williams headline the billing.

Bedlam finale meeting the hype

4:48 4Q: No. 22 Oklahoma State 27, No. 9 Oklahoma 24 

It only seemed natural to expect that the last scheduled meeting between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would be a frantic one, and that has indeed been the case. The Cowboys embarked on a 8-play 97-yard scoring drive to retake the lead on running back Ollie Gordon's second rushing touchdown of the day before forcing and recovering an Oklahoma fumble on the very next drive. That allowed the Pokes to pad their lead with a field goal. The Sooners responded with a field goal of their own, though not until after a controversial no-call against Oklahoma wide receiver Drake Stoops that looked like pass interference.

All tied up in Athens

Half: No. 2 Georgia 10, No. 12 Missouri 10

Missouri is giving Georgia all it can handle after the first 30 minutes in Athens. In what has been mostly a defensive struggle so far, the Tigers delivered some fireworks on their first drive. Quarterback Brady Cook his star wide receiver Luther Burden for a 39-yard touchdown, giving the Tigers an early 7-3 lead. Georgia responded early in the second quarter when former Missouri wide receiver Dominic Lovett took a screen six yards for a touchdown. 

Missouri's defense has been very impressive so far. Georgia gave up six sacks in eight games leading up to the Missouri contest. The Tigers finished the first half with two sacks and four tackles for loss. The Tigers get the ball to start the second half as they're looking for their first win against Georgia since 2013.

Cal makes big play on defense

The Bears are making plays on defense. After going down 10-0 early against No. 6 Oregon, Cal defensive back Noel Williams picked up Tez Johnson's fumble and returned it for a 9-yard touchdown. Oregon quarterback Bo Nix and Cal signal caller Fernando Mendoza both tossed an interception in the opening moments of the game. The Ducks are holding on to a 14-10 lead to start the second quarter.

Florida State putting Pitt away

End 3Q: Florida State 24, Pitt 7 

While the Seminoles were slow to get going, they have once again proven to be a stronger team in the second half extending their narrow halftime lead to a three-score deficit heading into the fourth quarter. Florida State's defense has held Pitt scoreless since they took a 7-0 lead, scoring on four of its last five possessions with a 55-yard run from Trey Benson providing the score that seems to have the game put away.

Dillon Gabriel ... the punter? 

We all know what Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel can do both through the air and on the ground as he remains in the conversation for the 2023 Heisman Trophy. Go ahead and add punting abilities to his résumé after this beauty of a pooch punt that pins Oklahoma State near its own goal line. That could be pivotal as the Sooners try to hang on to a four-point lead early in the fourth quarter in Stillwater.

Allar has himself a day

Penn State quarterback should enter next week's showdown with Michigan's vaunted defense feeling rather confident. His fourth touchdown pass of the game put the Nittany Lions ahead 31-7 on Maryland early in the fourth quarter as he found Dante Cephas in the end zone for the second time today. Otherwise, the story from College Park, Maryland has been Penn State's run defense and pass rush as the Terrpains are down to -51 yards rushing when including the yardage they have lost on five sacks.

Mizzou not going down quietly 

Early 4Q: No. 2 Georgia 24, No. 12 Missouri 21

Just when it looked like Georgia might be pulling away on a 14-0 run, Missouri cuts the deficit back to three early in the fourth quarter. A 23-yard pass from Tigers quarterback Brady Cook to Mekhi Miller sets up a 12-yard touchdown run by Cody Schrader before Cook finds Luther Burden on the ensuing 2-point attempt. We saw Missouri play the Bulldogs about as close as anybody did last season before the Tigers let a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter slip away in a 26-22 home loss. Here they are in a fourth-quarter fight with Georgia once again, though there is still digging to be done.

OU takes first lead in Bedlam 

Mid 3Q: No. 9 Oklahoma 21, No. 22 Oklahoma State 17

What a way to finish a drive by the Sooners. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel hasn't exactly played his cleanest game today, but a 26-yard completion to Drake Stoops on third and 12 sets up a 23-yard rushing touchdown by Tawee Walker on the very next play. Just like that, Oklahoma is ahead for the first time in its last scheduled Bedlam matchup with Oklahoma State, scoring 14 unanswered after trailing 17-7.

Army stuns Air Force as 18.5 point underdog

Final: Army 23, Air Force 3

Air Force won last season's Commander-in-Chief's Trophy and was off to a great start on the quest to claim it once again, as it entered Saturday's showdown with 2-6 Army boasting an 8-0 record that included a win over Navy. But the No. 25 Falcons couldn't get out of their own way today, and now it's Army that is in the driver's seat to claim the CIC Trophy. Air Force committed six turnovers and also turned the ball over on downs twice against an Army defense that stood tall against the run. Big moment for the Black Knights and coach Jeff Monken amid what has been an unusually challenging season.

Florida State on upset alert? 

HALFTIME: Florida State 10, Pitt 7 

Pitt held the Seminoles scoreless through the first quarter and even took a 7-0 lead before Jordan Travis was able to lead a couple of scoring drives to give Florida State the hafltime lead on the road. The most noticeable aspect of the first half has been both how well Pitt's defense has played and also how badly Travis misses his top two targets in Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson, both out of the lineup today dealing with injuries. Mike Norvell's squad is in a fistfight with a Pitt team that thrives on these kind of games, so establishing an edge after halftime will be key. Florida State has been a good second half and fourth quarter team most of the year -- especially in wins against LSU and Duke -- and that feature will be necessary to avoid the upset based on how things have been going in the first half.

Cowboys lead in last scheduled Bedlam 

HALF: No. 22 Oklahoma State 17, No. 9 Oklahoma 14 

It appeared early on that the Cowboys and Sooners might deliver one final Bedlam shootout after both teams scored touchdowns separated by just 48 seconds of game time within the opening five minutes play. The pace has slowed down a bit since then, but Oklahoma State finds itself up by a field goal at halftime and has yet to trail at any point in the game. Cowboys star running back Ollie Gordon suffered an apparent lower body injury in the final minute of the half, and that's certainly going to be a development to monitor once the action resumes. Earlier in the game, Gordon opened the scoring with this 20-yard touchdown run.
