Cardinals' Jerome Williams: Contract purchased Monday

Williams had his contract purchased by the Cardinals on Monday.

Williams is 5-3 with a 4.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through nine starts with Triple-A Memphis. He has shown very good control over the course of the season, giving up just 2.37 BB/9, which has helped limit baserunners. However, the 34-year-old found very little success in the majors in 2015, owning a 5.80 ERA and 1.61 WHIP through 121 innings as both a starter and reliever for the Phillies.
