Pirates starting pitcher prospect Luis Heredia is five appearances (four starts) into his season for Class A West Virginia. The 18-year-old hurler began the season in extended spring so the organization could limit his workload, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Heredia, who was a major international acquisition in 2011, is 1-2 with a 4.79 ERA and .243 opponents' batting average. Unfortunately, he has struggled with his command, issuing nearly as many walks (14) as strikeouts (16).
