Red Sox DFA Clayton Mortensen

The Red Sox designated reliever Clayton Mortensen for assignment Saturday, as they recalled Jonathan Diaz to play third base with Will Middlebrooks in the minors and Jose Iglesias at shortstop for the injured Stephen Drew, the Boston Globe reports. 

Mortensen was 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA over 24 relief appearances for the Red Sox. He will have to clear waivers to remain in the organization.
