Russell, a pending unrestricted free agent, wishes to remain with the Oilers.

Russell has played for four different clubs since the Blue Jackets made him a third-round pick in 2005. He garnered a one-year deal with Edmonton, notching 13 points in 68 regular-season games, as well as four in 13 over the course of the postseason. Russell's bread and butter comes in the form of blocked shots -- he had a whopping 213 of those this year -- and that skill is quite transferable if he happens to wind up with yet another organization for the 2017-18 campaign.
