Russell was promoted to the active roster Wednesday.
Russell is now available for Wednesday's game against the Senators. He's expected to slot into the bottom six, flanking Jujhar Khaira on the opposite side of Devin Shore. The 28-year-old has posted an assist, five shots on net and seven hits over four NHL games this year.
