Czarnik was called up from AHL Grand Rapids on Tuesday.
Czarnik will rejoin the big club after staying in the minors through the holiday break. The 31-year-old could slot into Christian Fischer's (upper body) fourth-line role after Fischer was placed on injured reserve.
