Melnichuk was promoted to the taxi squad Thursday, per CapFriendly.
Melnichuk remains on hand as the Sharks' No. 3 goalie, though he won't suit up unless something happens to Adin Hill or Zach Sawchenko. The 23-year-old Melnichuk has not drawn into an NHL game this season.
