Gambrell was recalled by the Sharks on Sunday, Dan Rusanowsky of KFOX 98.5 FM reports.
With Joe Thornton (undisclosed) placed on injured reserve, Gambrell was brought up to center the Sharks' fourth line. He played three games with the big club last season, and he's expected to suit up Monday versus the Islanders.
