By all means, permit me to explain. The pitcher? UNLV freshman right-hander Chase Maddux, son of 355-game winner Greg Maddux. The batsman? Texas freshman infielder Kody Clemens, son of 354-game winner Roger Clemens. Not pictured but hazarding a lead off first base? Texas junior infielder Kacy Clemens, son of 354-game winner Roger Clemens.

Maddux had just entered the game, so he was not responsible for the base-running Clemens. Here, in a lovingly crafted screengrab, is how his encounter with Kody went ...

Kody wound up going 1 for 4 on the day, while Maddux worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Rare is the sight of The Spawn of 709 Wins facing off on the field of play!

At 5-foot-8 and only 105 pounds, Maddux has a lot of growing to do, but he still proved to be a very effective pitcher for the state champion Bishop Gorman Gaels, as he posted a 3-1 record with 26 strikeouts and just two walks in 27 2/3 innings pitched.

Yea and also verily: 5-8 and 105 pounds. Per the UNLV roster, young Chase checks in at 6-foot-2, 140 pounds these days, so he's trending upward.
