KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- File this one away because it might wind up being critically important. In the third inning of Game 7 of the World Series between the Giants and Royals (GameTracker), Joe Panik and Brandon Crawford combined on a stellar 4-6-3 double play. Have a look ...

Great ranging scoop and shovel by Panik and a quick transfer and throw by Crawford. The rub is that Eric Hosmer, who inexplicably slid into first base (only slide into first base if the fielder is attempting to tag you, kids!), was initially called safe. However, after a lengthy review of the play, the call was overturned, and it went into the books as a 4-6-3 double play.

And a fine one it was.
