VIDEO: Pedro Alvarez homers amidst 'overrated' chant in college
One time in his college days, Pedro Alvarez was batting while a fan started an 'overrated' chant. So Alvarez hit a 430-foot home run. Watch.
Here is Alvarez playing for Vanderbilt in 2008 and properly responding to some clown in the stands who was running with an "overrated" chant:
If we can translate the sound of the ball hitting the bat into English, I believe it just said, "dude, sit down and shut up." And that's only if said bat was being nice.
Vanderbilt athletics reported that the ball traveled 430 feet. Not that it's a huge deal these days for Alvarez. According to ESPN.com's Home Run Tracker, four of Alvarez's 19 homers this season have gone further -- and that's with a wood bat against big-league pitching.
