Jaylen Brown is expected to miss 1-2 weeks with a right hamstring strain, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. Statistically speaking, Brown is off to the best start of his career. He is averaging a career-high 25.6 points per game on over 49 percent shooting from the field and just under 40 percent shooting from behind the arc. Brown made his first All-Star team last season, and was well on his way to earning the honor again this season.

But Boston has struggled as a team despite Brown's strong start. The Celtics are 4-6 through 10 games. Their offense as a whole ranks 22nd in basketball, and team leader Marcus Smart has publicly criticized Brown and Jayson Tatum for not passing enough. Earlier Monday, Brown was linked to the Philadelphia 76ers in trade rumors involving All-Star guard Ben Simmons. The season is long and there is still plenty of time to turn things around, but on that front, it has been a rocky start for Boston.

While Brown has largely been a very durable NBA player, he has dealt with more issues over the past two seasons than he did earlier in his career. He was ruled out of the postseason last spring after undergoing wrist surgery, and then tested positive for COVID-19 in October. He came back to play on opening night, but now, this hamstring injury will cost him more time.

The Celtics started Dennis Schroder in his place in the two earlier games he missed this season. Doing so allowed them to move Marcus Smart to shooting guard and play a bit smaller. That will likely be Boston's approach to this absence, but the Celtics will need Brown back as soon as possible in order to get this season back on track.
