The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to terms on a non-guaranteed one-year minimum contract with free-agent forward Ronald Dupree, Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports. The team will take a look at him during training camp.
DuPree, 31, did not play in the NBA last season, opting instead to play professionally in Italy.
During a six-year NBA career that includes stops with with the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Seattle SuperSonics and Toronto Raptors, DuPree has averages of 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game.
DuPree, listed at 6 feet 7 and 209 pounds, could have a tough time squeezing his way onto the Grizzlies roster. At the three spot, starter Rudy Gay, who plays big minutes, is already backed up on the depth chart by Quincy Pondexter and D.J. Kennedy. Memphis also has a solid five-man rotation of bigs that includes All-Star center Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Marreese Speights, Darrell Arthur and Hamed Haddadi. However, a forward spot was opened when the Grizzlies traded Dante Cunningham to the Minnesota Timberwolves for guard Wayne Ellington back in July.
