Houston Rockets center Omer Asik was back at practice with the team Wednesday and while he didn't go through full contact, coach Kevin McHale told reporters he could return to the rotation in the next 7-10 days.

Asik of course has been at the center of controversy for months. On top of knee and thigh injuries that have limited him, Asik made it known he wanted to be traded. He first indicated the desire following the Rockets' signing of Dwight Howard last summer, then reasserted his desire for a change earlier this year. The Rockets attempted to move him but couldn't find a suitor offering what they want and told season ticket holders he'd be around.

Multiple reports, however, suggest that Houston remains committed to combing the market to try and get something in return for the valuable defensive stalwart. His returning to the lineup just weeks ahead of the trade deadline shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Asik is averaging 4.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in just 17 games this season for Houston. The Rockets have featured a stellar 96.9 points allowed per 100 possessions with Asik on the floor this season according to NBA.com.
