Granger is out indefinitely (Getty Images)

The Indiana Pacers announced on Tuesday that forward Danny Granger is out indefinitely due to the continuing soreness that we talked about over the weekend. Granger is getting a second opinion, after which there will be an update. That kind of scenario tends to happen when a player is looking to avoid surgery, which isn't good for the Pacers.

The fact that it's a mystery ailment is also concerning because you tend to want resolution on what's wrong so you can start a treatment plan.

Granger is essential to the Pacers, whose strength is in their overall depth since they don't have a superstar player. Granger, about to start his eighth season, has struggled the past two seasons but still brings a tremendous amount to the table. If he's out long-term, this could have fairly disastrous consequences for Indiana. We'll keep you updated.
