In addition to the report of new procedures for officials to measure PSI levels in game balls, the NFL has also updated its fine schedule. So while it seems like the league haphazardly metes out punishments, there are, in fact, guidelines in place.

For example: Physical contact with an official will now result in a $28,940 fine for first-time offenders (and $57,881 for second-time offenders), while personal messages will cost players $5,787 ($11,576 for second offenses).
