During his closing arguments Tuesday in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial, defense attorney James Sultan said the only possible verdict for Hernandez is not guilty, reports the Associated Press.

Hernandez is accused of killing Odin Lloyd, who was shot six times in an industrial park less than a mile from Hernandez's home. Sultan told the jurors that Lloyd and Hernandez were friends and to forget what they learned about Hernandez in the media.

Sultan added that the prosecution failed to provide a clear motive as to why Hernandez would murder Lloyd.

"You didn't hear because it doesn't exist," Sultan said. "Does the prosecution expect you to fill in that gaping hole in its case with guesswork, speculation?"

Once the defense completes their closing arguments, the prosecution will then offer its closing arguments. Once the closing arguments from both sides are completed, the 15-person jury will send 12 jurors to deliberate the case.
