Andrew Luck is known for many things: He's one of the league's best young players, he has an odd habit of complimenting opponents who knock the snot out of him, and he's easily identifiable by one of the worst neck beards this side of Kyle Orton.

And the awfulness of the neck beard isn't lost on the third-year Colts quarterback.

“I know it’s a bad look," Luck told reporters on a conference call (via USAToday.com). "My girlfriend tells me every day. My mom tells me. I realize it’s a bad look. But I’m not going for any specific look.”

Thank god.

(Though SBNation depicts, with uncanny historical accuracy, the "specific look" Luck has achieved.)

So what exactly is Luck going for?

"To be honest, I don't like shaving during the season. Razor burn," he said. "If you grow it this long, you might as well keep it."

If nothing else, we appreciate the commitment. Worth noting: While Luck looks substantially different when he's clean shaven, we're not convinced it's better. Judge for yourself:
