Although Johnny Manziel's not allowed to hang out or contact his ex-girlfriend, that doesn't mean other people can't. Just ask DeAndre Hopkins about that.

Colleen Crowley, who dated Manziel for several months, spent her Fourth of July weekend in Malibu, where she spent some time hanging out with Hopkins.

As soon as Hopkins posted the photo to Instagram, a lot of people had the same question: Is he dating Crowley?

Hopkins got that question so many times that he decided to answer it on Thursday.

The relationship between Crowley and Manziel got ugly in January after an incident where Manziel allegedly hit Crowley. The case was sent to a grand jury, which led to a charge of misdemeanor assault against Manziel.

Crowley has accused the former Browns quarterback of hitting her several times during a car ride on Jan. 30. Crowley's attorney alleges Manziel ruptured her eardrum during the altercation. Crowley also alleges Manziel struck her several times and threatened to kill them both. Manziel has denied any wrongdoing in the case.

A few days after the incident, a judge in Texas granted a protective order for Crowley that ordered Manziel to stay at least 50 feet away from her at all times.

The case led to a May 5 court date, where Manziel was ordered to stay away from Crowley and not have any contact with her as part of his bond release.

If there's no settlement in the case and Manziel loses, the beleaguered former first-round pick would face a maximum punishment of one year in jail and a $4,000 fine for the Class A misdemeanor.
