It's that time of year where the Philadelphia Flyers get really busy. It started on Tuesday.

First came the reports that Danny Briere has been informed by the Flyers that he will be bought out. From Tim Panaccio at CSN Philly.

On Tuesday, sources close to Briere confirmed he was informed last week that the buyout will go into effect 48 hours after the Stanley Cup Final end.

"I can't comment of that stuff yet," Briere said on Tuesday night.

That report is hardly a surprise. Briere is a veteran whose numbers have been declining and he has a $6.5 million salary cap hit on the books for each of the next two seasons. It's been something that even Briere has been expecting, so no surprise. Briere will become a free agent and join the market when the shopping begins on July 5.

That wasn't all that was coming out of Philadelphia, though. Remember, teams will have two amnesty buyouts to use this summer or next, so if Briere is getting one, that leaves another the Flyers could use. It has been widely speculated that goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov would join Briere on the buyout list.

Then multiple reports came down on Monday that Bryzgalov's agent, Rich Winter, had been told he would not be bought out by the Flyers. That was reported by Josh Rimer and also Stephen Whyno of the Canadian Press in addition to others. Considering many expected Bryzgalov would be bought out, that was a surprise.

Apparently, it was even a surprise to Flyers GM Paul Holmgren.

So he still could be bought out. Or he could stay. At this point nobody knows.

Keep in mind, the Flyers are one team rumored to be talking with the Kings about goalie Jonathan Bernier and they have Steve Mason, who played well in the limited action he saw with the Flyers at the tail end of the season.

Oh, and just in case all that was not enough, there are also rumors they are talking to the Ducks about Bobby Ryan and Brayden Coburn's name is popping up there, as well as the Flyers' 11th overall pick in the draft.

It's always busy in Philadelphia.
