PHOTOS: Sergei Fedorov, 44, plays for CSKA in Spengler Cup
Sergei Fedorov played in a competitive game for the first time since 2012 when he suited up for CSKA at the Spengler Cup Friday. He's also the team's general manager.
Sergei Fedorov is the general manager of KHL club CSKA Moscow. Friday, with the team playing in the holiday club tournament, the Spengler Cup, Fedorov pulled double duty as both GM and forward.
The 44-year-old former Red Wings star suited up for CSKA against the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, in Switzerland.

Also in the lineup for CSKA was Fedorov's brother, Fedor, who had a brief NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers.
The Russian hockey legend is expected to suit up for the Red Wings alumni as part of the Hockeytown Winter Festival at Comerica Park in Detroit on Dec. 31. What better way to get prepped for a meaningless exhibition than by skating in an actual competitive tournament game for the team you manage?
Fedorov had hinted at a comeback last season, but never suited up. He might be a step slower, but it’s pretty cool to see one of the greatest players of the 1990s back in action.
He had no points, but Fedorov, who wore No. 18 since his No. 91 is already taken, registered two shots on goal in the game which CSKA held on to win 4-3.
The Hockeytown Winter Festival Alumni Showdown, which will feature a doubleheader of games between Red Wings and Maple Leafs alumni, begins at 1 p.m. ET on Dec. 31 at Comerica Park.
