Savoie was assigned to WHL Wenatchee on Saturday. Savoie logged just 3:55 of ice time against Minnesota on Friday in his NHL debut. He also posted two goals and three assists in six AHL contests for Rochester during a conditioning assignment. He will get to play big minutes at the junior level before a possible return to the pro ranks later in the season.... See More ... See Less

Sabres' Matthew Savoie: Recalled from conditioning loan
Savoie (shoulder) was recalled from his conditioning loan with AHL Rochester on Monday. Savoie played well during his conditioning stint, picking up two goals and five points through six contests. It wouldn't be suprising to see Savoie, the ninth overall pick from the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, make his debut sooner rather than later. The 19-year-old forward racked up 38 goals and 95 points through 62 games with the WHL's Winnipeg Ice last year.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Matthew Savoie: Sent to AHL for conditioning
Savoie (shoulder) was sent to AHL Rochester on Sunday for a conditioning assignment. Savoie could see some game action in the minors after getting injured during Buffalo's Prospects Challenge finale against Pittsburgh on Sept. 18. If he doesn't see NHL action after being cleared, he may eventually end up being loaned back to the WHL to play for Wenatchee. The 19-year-old forward amassed 38 goals and 95 points in 62 WHL contests last campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Matthew Savoie: Surfaces on IR
Savoie (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per CapFriendly. Savoie was injured just before the start of the preseason and the injury is lingering into the regular season. The 19-year-old was selected ninth overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and could make his NHL debut at some point this season.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Matthew Savoie: Set to practice next week
Savoie (shoulder) is expected to practice next week, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. The 19-year-old was injured during a prospects game earlier in the month, but he remains on track to get back to practicing with the Sabres. Savoie is expected to spend the bulk of 2023-24 with WHL Wenatchee if he doesn't make the Sabres out of camp.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Matthew Savoie: Might return before end of camp
Savoie (shoulder) is week-to-week, but he might return before the end of training camp, according to Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News. Savoie injured his left shoulder during Buffalo's prospects game Monday. He had 38 goals and 95 points in 62 contests with WHL Winnipeg last season. Buffalo selected Savoie with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Matthew Savoie: Sustains shoulder injury
Savoie suffered a shoulder injury in Buffalo's prospects game Monday versus Pittsburgh, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Savoie is expected to miss at least some of training camp, which would put his chances of making the NHL roster in jeopardy. The 19-year-old had 95 points in 62 games with WHL Winnipeg last season, and if he doesn't make the Sabres' roster out of camp, he'll be assigned back to the junior franchise, which relocated to Wenatchee, Washington in the offseason. Savoie does not have an exception to jump immediately to the AHL.... See More ... See Less -
Sabres' Matthew Savoie: Looking good in training camp
Savoie is impressing coach Don Granato in training camp, according to Buffalo Hockey Beat. Savoie was the Sabres' first pick and ninth overall in the 2022 Entry Draft and has impressed Granato with his skill level so much so that the coach used him between Kyle Okposo and Casey Mittelstadt in Thursday's win over the Flyers. Savoie had 35 goals and 90 points last season with the Winnipeg Ice of the WHL and is expected to be even better when the Sabres return him to junior hockey in the foreseeable future.... See More ...
