Florida announced Thursday that starting point guard Scottie Wilbekin will not play when the 10th-ranked Gators face Georgetown on Friday in Jacksonville.

Wilbekin's absence is being described as a "coach's decision."

This development means Kenny Boynton will likely start at point guard even though he's not a point guard and never has been. Further complicating things for Florida is the reality that junior wing Casey Prather is also expected to miss the opener after reportedly suffering a concussion.

Friday's tipoff is set for 9 p.m. ET on the USS Bataan.
