No. 16 seed UMBC started the trash-talking early. No 16 had beaten a No. 1 seed in NCAA Tournament history, but that didn't stop the Retrievers' official Twitter account from jumping on a hot start against Virginia.

The Retrievers, of course, backed it up. They beat UVA 74-54, a vicious thumping that was also the greatest upset in NCAA Tournament history. But that trash talk had been flowing since before halftime, which was tied 21-21.

And while UMBC has quickly become everyone's favorite college basketball team for the moment on the court, the Retrievers' Twitter account quickly became the best sports social media account, period. The account's savage levels began turning up to warm when they went full @FreezingColdTakes on CBS Sports' own Seth Davis, who called the game shortly after it started.

Davis wasn't the only one to get receipts pulled on them. UMBC also had fun with Fox Sports' Doug Gottlieb.

Then, the account started dragging anyone online who dared doubt them.

To UMBC's credit, it's not like they're not supposed to be in the tournament. They won their conference's auto bid and have proven to be a worthy team. In their mind, what's the worst that could happen? Now they're just living their best life.

Remember: No. 16 seed had ever upset a No. 1 seed.

Or just let UMBC tell you.
