Four-star power forward Shareef O'Neal, the son of Hall of Fame center Shaquille O'Neal, has committed to the UCLA Bruins.
O'Neal announced the news on his Instagram Tuesday evening.
O'Neal is a former Arizona pledge who de-committed from the Wildcats this week in the wake of controversy surrounding coach Sean Miller, who was allegedly heard on a wiretap discussing a $100,000 payment to bring five-star big man Deandre Ayton to Tucson, according to ESPN.
Miller did not coach in Saturday night's game against Oregon, however Ayton, the team's leading scorer and rebounder, participated in the overtime loss to the Ducks.
O'Neal is the No. 33 overall player in the Class of 2018 and the No. 9 player at his position.
The late cycle commitment for UCLA is a big boost to an already impressive recruiting haul for Steve Alford and the Bruins, who currently boast the No. 3 class behind Duke and Oregon. His commitment also bolsters an already-impressive frontcourt that features five-star center Moses Brown and three-star Kenneth Nwuba.
