West Virginia guard Juwan Staten battled cramps through the evening, but played through the pain in the final minutes and drove to the bucket for a game-winning layup with only four seconds remaining to beat Kansas in Morgantown.
"They're always the best team in our league," Staten said of Kansas moments after the game ended, out of breath following the furious finish. "We knew they weren't going to give up, and we knew we had to fight to the end."
Staten led West Virginia with 20 points on 9-of-18 shooting, but no bucket was more memorable than the final one to knock off the Jayhawks.
"I came back to school for this," Staten told ESPN's Holly Rowe.
