Ryan was optioned off the Cubs' active roster Saturday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ryan spent two separate stints with the big-league squad during April, but neither lasted more than a day. He's thrown 2.2 scoreless innings so far this year. Keegan Thompson was called up in a corresponding move.
