Dayton had his Tommy John surgery performed Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.

Dayton is expected to require at least 12 months to heal from the procedure, so it's highly unlikely that he'll factor into the Dodgers' bullpen mix at any point in 2018. After a strong finish to the 2016 season, Dayton looked like he could be the top setup option for closer Kenley Jansen entering the current campaign, but health issues and ineffectiveness prior to the season-ending elbow procedure prevented that from materializing. He'll wrap up the season with a 4.94 ERA and 1.31 WHIP over 23.2 innings.
