Partch was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Tuesday, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
The right-hander turned in strong ratios with Triple-A Indianapolis this season but walks remain a major issue (4.5 BB/9) and the Pirates ultimately ruled Partch out for a September callup. His free passes have ticked up at every level, reaching 7.5 BB/9 so far in 22 major league appearances.
