Wood was recalled from Double-A Montgomery on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Wood hasn't pitched above Double-A in his career, but the Rays apparently liked what they saw out of the 23-year-old right-hander over the past couple years to bring him straight to the show. Wood posted a 4.47 ERA in nine starts for the Biscuits this season while striking out a batter per inning, so he'll likely carry that into a long-relief role in Tampa Bay.
