Red Sox's Marco Hernandez: Surgery scheduled for Friday

Hernandez will undergo shoulder surgery on Friday and could be out for the season, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Hernandez injured his shoulder earlier in May, and it seems that the MRI taken on May 12 revealed enough to lead the embattled infielder down the surgical path of recovery. He's not guaranteed to miss the rest of the season, but the odds are certainly against him in this respect. More information on a potential return date should come forth once he's able to begin his recovery process. Look for Deven Marrero and Josh Rutledge to pick up the slack at the hot corner until Pablo Sandoval (knee) is back in action.
