The Angels granted Buchter his release Sunday after he elected free agency.
Buchter will hit the open market one day after the Angels outrighted him to their alternate training site when he went unclaimed off waivers. The 33-year-old lefty made 10 relief appearances for the Angels this season, giving up three earned runs on five hits and six walks while striking out eight over six innings.
