Barnes was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul after pitching four shutout innings during Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Tigers, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. He allowed three hits with two strikeouts and three walks and did not factor in the decision.

The left-hander was promoted ahead of the contest and will make a quick return to Triple-A with Joe Ryan (personal) set to be reinstated from the bereavement list Wednesday. Barnes has a 5.86 ERA and 17:15 K:BB over 35.1 big-league innings, and Tuesday's outing was his best of the season.
