Barnes was designated for assignment by the Twins on Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Barnes made his major-league debut during the 2021 campaign and recorded a 5.92 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 38 innings across nine appearances (eight starts) with the Twins. He'll now lose his spot on the 40-man roster to make room for several prospects who will be protected from the Rule 5 draft.
