As in redraft, the tight end position is very top heavy. There's a top six that presume everyone agrees on, even if they don't agree on the order. Then there's Noah Fant and Dallas Goedert, who are pretty close to established as surefire top-eight guys, even if their game logs still leave a little to be desired. Then there's everyone else.

It's that everyone else part where some really massive leaps can happen over the course of six weeks, as you'll see below. In those six weeks, Dalton Schultz and Dawson Knox have turned themselves into Fantasy starters who also happen to be relatively young. On the flip side, guys like Jonnu Smith, Austin Hooper, and Robert Tonyan have seen their values take massive hits.

I think the most important lesson here is to not overpay for the guys making these big moves. At least not until they've entered one of the top two tiers. Anyone who paid anything for Smith, Hooper or Tonyan in the last 12 months feels pretty awful about it. While it's certainly possible Schultz or Knox could have a longer shelf life than that, it's not something you should bet more than a mid range flex or late second round draft pick on.
