Benson (knee) was placed on long-term injured reserve Monday, per CapFriendly.
Benson is considered week-to-week and now he'll miss at least the first 10 games of the season. The 24-year-old scored just two points in 29 NHL appearances during the 2021-22 campaign. Once he's healthy he could fill a bottom-six depth role.
